Gann Box

The Gann Box is a traditional method of squaring time and price. It is a free-hand drawing with the box divided up into thirds, eighths, and sixteenths.

To add a Gann Box to a chart:

1. Select the Gann Box tool from the Gann tool group. Your mouse pointer will change into a pencil.

2. Select the first value (the origin for the Gann Box, typically a major top or bottom of the market) by left-clicking on the chart.

3. Select your end point. Your end point can be forward or backwards in time, up or down in price, providing full control over how you draw the Gann Box onto your chart.

Move to Front: If the lines of the tool are displaying behind other tools or indicators on the chart, clicking this action will bring the lines to the forefront.

Price Flip: Duplicates the Gann Box horizontally using the same settings as the original. Click this action at the top edge of the box to flip above the original, and at the bottom edge to flip below.

Reverse the Tool: Creates a Gann Box to the left of the original using the same settings.

Save Settings as Default: If you have adjusted any of the tool's properties (such as the colour) you can save the adjustments as your new default setting. Each time you subsequently apply the tool to a chart it will display using the new settings.

Scale: Click to resize the selected Gann Box (eg enter 2 to double the size).
