Crosshairs
Overview
In Optuma it is possible to display Crosshairs over all views of your chart:
To enable the Crosshairs use the ALT+C keyboard shortcut option, or left-click on the Cross icon in the Action Bar (far left of screen).
Adjusting the Crosshair Properties and Labels
It is possible to adjust the Crosshair labels and function. To display the Crosshair properties right-click on the Cross icon in the Action Bar.
Show Crosshair Labels: When selected a Label will be displayed at the Crosshair intersection point for the date, price and/or astronomical positions.
Show Position: When selected the both the date and cursor price will be displayed at the crosshair intersection point.
Show Data Values: When enabled this will display details of any selected Custom Labels such as the open, high, low and close value of a bar at the Crosshair intersection point.
Track On All Charts: When enabled the Crosshair will display over tiled charts that are on the same page. This is explained in more detail below.
Custom Labels: This displays the following selection where you can nominate what labels you want to display at the Crosshair intersection point.
Astronomical: If Optuma is equipped with the Astro tool module, then this option will be displayed. Enabling this option from the Custom Labels menu will display Astro positions for the selected planetary bodies at the Crosshair intersection point.
*Note: You can also nominate whether the Astro Viewpoint is GeoCentric, HelioCentric or Sidereal. The GMT Offset can also be adjusted to suit the time zone for specific market.*
Scripts: Selecting the Scripts from the Custom Labels menu will allow you to add a script condition using the Script Editor. The scripts that are selected/created can either display a calculated value or a true / false result.
*Note: To add a script click the + sign then click script selection button as highlighted in the below image.*
This will then display the Script Editor where you can either select from the Saved Scripts or create a new script. For more information on using the Script Editor and for some scripting examples, please click here.
In the following example, I have added two scripts, the first script will return a true result when the RSI is above 50 and a false result when it is not. The second script will just display the current RSI value to provide an example of a value-based result.
This is how the Script label will display at the Crosshair intersection point.
*Note: It is possible to add a Custom script label via the Crosshair menu and still have the results displayed by just enabling the Tool Tips (see image below). It is not necessary to have the actual Crosshair enabled.*
Crosshair Tracking on Tiled Charts
It is possible to display the Crosshair across tiled charts. In the below example there are two tiled charts of IBM, one is a weekly chart and the other daily.
As I move the Crosshair over the weekly chart you will notice that the Crosshair is also tracking across the daily chart at the corresponding point in time and price. As the weekly chart encompasses 5 daily bars a shaded area is included on the daily Crosshair signifying the total bars selected from the weekly chart.
Applying Horizontal and Vertical Lines with the Crosshair
With the Crosshair enabled you can apply horizontal and vertical lines at the current Crosshair Position.
To apply a Horizontal Line, hold the Alt key down then left-click on the chart.
To apply a Vertical Line, hold both the Alt and Ctrl keys down together, then left-click on the chart.
