Adjusting the Backup Settings

By default, the Backup facility is automatically enabled, however, it is possible to disable this feature by deselecting the check box next to Perform Automatic Backups.

The Backup Frequency is set to weekly by default. This can be altered by accessing the drop down box displayed above to either a daily or monthly time frame.

Manual Backups can be performed by left-clicking the Backup Now button.

Backup Location

By default, Optuma will save the backup files to the Optuma folder in your Documents directory. However, it is possible to nominate a different directory or even an external drive as the backup location by left-clicking the Browse For Folder Button.

This will display the following window allowing you to nominate the desired folder location, once selected, left-click on OK.

The ability to be able to change the backup location to an external drive provides another safe guard in the event something unfortunate occurs to your local hard drive. It is possible to alter the folder location to an external drive then left-click the Backup Now button to perform an immediate backup. After completing the manual backup you can then left-click the Default button to automatically change the Backup Location to the default path for future automatic backups.

Restoring Files from Backup

To restore a file, left-click on the + next to the date from which you want to restore from. This will display the following categories: Common, Criteria, Scans, Strategy Test, Templates, Workbooks. Expand the relevant category and then left-click on the exact file you want to restore. Next, left-click on Restore Selected Backup to restore the file.

Note: When the backup file is restored the existing file will be overwritten, so rename the current file prior to restoring if you want to keep it.

Backup Set Control

It is possible to control how many backup sets are retained, i.e. for how long a backup will be kept.

image

By default, all backups will be kept no matter how old they are, so you could end up having backups that are over 5 years old still on your system and taking up space. It is now possible to set how many backups will be kept at any one time, this can be set to All or only 1 backup, 5, 10, 15 or 20 backups.

Deleting a Backup

It is possible to delete the complete backup set for a particular date. To do this left-click on the desired date from the Backup list and then left-click the Delete button.
