Setting up AVG Free edition with Optuma

This article will take you through the process of setting up AVG Free to allow Optuma full access to the Internet. This should prevent any problems downloading End of Day data, or installing updates to Optuma.

Process

  1. Open your version of AVG Anti-virus Software by left-clicking on the AVG icon in the system tray.

    The following window will display:

  2. Left-click on Menu in the top right-hand side of the window, then select Settings.

  3. Under General, select Exceptions and then select Add Exception.

  4. Select Browse to nominate the folder location. You will then need to navigate to the various Optuma folders on your computer and add them as exceptions for both the Resident Shield and Scan.

    The following are the folder locations that you will need to add an exclusion for. You will need to add each folder one at a time.

    Note: If you are an existing client and have used Market Analyst, you will use the ProgramData\Market Analyst file below. If you are a new client and haven’t used Market Analyst, then you will use the ProgramData\Optuma file below.

    C:\ProgramData\Market Analyst\ C:\ProgramData\Optuma

    Note: The first program files listed are for the 32-bit version of Optuma, the second files listed are for the 64-bit version of Optuma.

    C:\Program Files\Market Analyst 8\

    C:\Program Files\Optuma

    C:\Users\[Account Name]\AppData\Local\Market Analyst 8\

    C:\Users\[Account Name]\AppData\Local\Optuma\My Documents\Market Analyst 8 \Documents\Optuma

    Note: Some of the folders listed above can be hidden by Windows. For information on displaying these folders, please click here.

    If using Windows XP, the Data folder is located here: C:\Documents & Settings\All Users\Application Data\Market Analyst\

    Also, under Windows XP the permission certificate will be located here: C:\Documents and Settings\{Windows Account Username}\Local Settings\Application Data\Market Analyst 8

  5. After you have selected the folder you will then need to click Add Exception.

  6. This will then add an exclusion for the first folder location, you will need to repeat steps 3 to 5 to add the remaining folders.

    Once you have added all the folders the Exceptions window should appear as per the following.

  7. After all exceptions have been added, they should apply automatically and you can close AVG.
