Optuma crashing with a Windows error: Plays.TV installed

Author: Optuma Team Last updated: Feb 19, 2019 01:53

REPORTED

Important Notice as of 6th July 2016: Clients have reported that they are no longer able to log into Optuma - after launching a Windows error is displayed.

EXPLANATION

It appears clients whose PC has an AMD graphics display card may have received a recent driver update that includes the Plays.TV software. Unfortunately, this software thinks that Optuma is a game and results in Optuma being unable to start.

You can check if Plays.TV is installed by looking for the following icon in your system tray, located near the clock in the bottom-right corner of your screen.

SOLUTION

You can temporarily disable the Plays.TV application by right-clicking on the icon in the System Tray and selecting Exit. This will prevent it from running (until you restart your PC) after which you will be able to successfully log in to Optuma.

However, if you are wanting to remove the Plays.TV application then it will need to be uninstalled: click here for more information. In some instances, it appears it is necessary to uninstall the complete raptr software.
